Line sowing means sowing of seeds in a fixed geometry pattern along horizontal or vertical line. Line sowing is usually done for expensive and highly germinating quality seeds. It is relatively tough and tedious job. More labor is incurred during seed sowing but it is scientific method of seed sowing in modern agriculture.
Broadcasting means random throwing of seeds in a field without any geometrical pattern. Usually broadcasting is done for cheaper and low germinating seeds. Broadcasting need 30-40 % more seeds than line sowing. If highly germinating quality seeds are used for broadcasting wil be economic loss and stunting growth of plant due to crowding.

Advantages of Line sowing over Broadcasting :-
·
Line sowing
provide sufficient space for growth of each plant.
·
Seed used and
seed cost is 30% less than broadcasting.
·
No any problem of
thinning.
·
Proper
utilization of water and nutrients.
·
Proper plant
growth and good yield.
